Our comprehensive and independent Review

Introduction: A bit history (from various sources on the web)

MySuperSales was started by Jonathan Yantis in January 2001. Originally Yantis sold various items on ebay under a company name "Zip Bay Auctions" and in late 1999 started dabling in selling various accounts, items and virtual currency for MMO's like EverQuest and Asheron's Call. This quickly proved much more profitable and mysupersales.com was launched as a superstore for EverQuest items, currency, and accounts to bypass ebay. It was really the first, and largest of it's kind. It completely dominated the EverQuest market until IGE came into the picture in late 2001.

After a gangster inspired war between the two for control of the market (including hacking attacks against each other, currency price wars fueled by in-game exploits, and rival bids to secretly snatch up every community site on the web) the heads of the respective families Jonathan Yantis (MySuperSales) and Brock Pierce (IGE) signed a merger in January of 2004. So, MySuperSales was acquired by IGE U.S. LLC in January 2004. Jonathan Yantis became the biggest shareholder in IGE and joined the board of managers of IGE and became the Chief Operating Officer of the company. Eventually, Yantis left the company as IGE could not afford to pay him 1 million a month. Being released from the non competition agreement, Yantis found a new competing site, Gamerking.

The new combined company (called RPG Holdings) has always been known to provide a professional service even if the company’s business strategy and management have historically had questionable ethics. Recently RPG Holdings spun-off its MMO media empire into a separate company called Affinity Media quelling some lingering ethical questions about conflicts of interest that would be similar to Halliburton secretly owning the New York Times (or perhaps the actual conflict of interest of Murdoch owning the WSJ).

In 2007 RPG Holdings Inc. restructured under the new name Atlas Technology Group incorporated in Vanuatu (for rather shady tax and legal purposes). Since then they revamped their customer service and delivery departments which were starting to decay from internal management struggles.

As you can see, the historical details are pretty obscure and there is little ways to find out who owns what. Some statements were made, some are obviously completely stupid, "In the long run, blue-chip companies are always going to see this as a rogue market with no future," said Ebay spokesman when Ebay started banning Virtual service sellers.

What is really want to point out is that like in every “rogue market”, the leaders had to fight their way to the top. Ethical concerns were completely overcome by greed and clandestineness. It doesn't mean that you can't trust those websites. Despite these historical concerns Mysupersales is a reliable company to do business with and one of the current market leaders. Most of you remember that troubled era known as The Noble Experiment. Would you really stop drinking because Prohibition was mandated in the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution for a few decades?

I just thought it would be good to inform you that most companies had a shady history. But I guess that your concern is to know what they are worth today and whether they are trustworthy or not.

Ease of use

Mysupersales got a pretty weak website overall. That's a pretty average website. It's not appealing, there are no fast order forms, almost no way to find any information. You will find what you want but they are really not playing in the same league as the leaders (even some scam websites had better looks and accessibility!) Technically this website is a shame.

UPDATE

Since we reviewed their website a lot of things have changed. The navigation is pretty easy. The website is still not that appealing and lacks quick order forms. Nonetheless, it's fairly decent now.

Reliability

MySuperSales' customer service has improved since last year. The average response time via live chat is less than a minute. Their agents will give fair responses and little copied and pasted answers. They obviously have less customers to serve at the same time and their response time is much better. The customer service agents were polite and patient. Their English was quite good as long as you don't trash talk them.

At the moment, they only call their customers for fraud prevention measures, this could become a hurting point in the future.

Press and web release

MySuperSales is one the website that appears in most reviews rating MMORPGs services company.

Compete

Here is their graph on compete. (U.S. panel stats)

Web monitoring, Complaints and rip-off boards, web release

MySuperSales is absent of the web biggest complaints and rip-off websites.

Transactions

At MySuperSales, you may buy currency for nearly 11 titles.

Purchasing

MySuperSales' purchasing process is rather standard. After selectiong the amount of currency you want to purchase, you need to enter in your character information along with your real life contact information including your phone number. As a fraud prevention measure if you are ordering a large amount of currency they will call you to confirm your order. You can also select when you want the currency delivered to you and add personal notes.

Price Policy

They are quite competitive and their pricing policy is consistent.

Delivery

They claim that most orders are delivered within 24 hours, but sometimes it may take longer. This is especially true of larger orders. MySuperSales claims that the average order delivery time is 5 hours.

Compared to the rest of the industry, five hours is an acceptable amount of time to receive an order.

Delivery times have improved drastically since 2008 and most of the customers have noticed an impressive change. They now are expedient.

Feature set

MySuperSales is one of the front runners that got the poorest set of features and the weakest website on the market. Of course, we will monitor any changes. Of course since the website is almost empty there isn't much to review.

Order Tracking

This is the only noticeable feature the website offers.

  • Order Tracking Cookie: If you enabled cookies in your browser when you placed an order, your order should automatically appear in a list below on the “track your order” page.
  • Email and Order Number: If the first option does not work, you can always use the forms below and enter your e-mail and the order number from the email confirmation e-mail that was sent to you when you placed your order.

Summary

Despite the overall poor shape of the website, their excellent customer service (and overall reliability) as well as their purchasing and delivery services, makes us believe they are a reliable company that delivers, but definitely not the best.
