A U.S. Based Mom-and-pop company
MMOKings was started in 2003 by Paul King. MMOKings first emerged on the scene as an Ebay™ and Player Auction™ seller of Star Wars Galaxies, Shadowbane and Lineage 2 currencies. They claim to be gamers too since UO and to know what you are expecting.
The company claims to be an entirely U.S home based business run by a few core employees who work from their home offices throughout the country. MMOKings is one of the last mom-and-pop U.S based virtual currency companies in existence. The virtual currency still comes from gold farmers in developing countries. Everything else comes from the Iowa, they even got a local Iowa number if you want to make sure they are legitimate.
A pretty honest company
MMOKings remains the most honest virtual currency company we have ever dealt with. They are completely open about where they are based, provide a personal U.S phone number for any problems, and are still able to offer competitive prices. What bothers me is that it is much more a marketing approach than a philosophy or way of living. They are still exploiting gold farmers in developing countries but even American companies need to have an attractive marketing and they are really honest about everything.
Ease of use
MMOkings offers a good interface and is well laid out. Overall that's a pretty readable site with visible links. Download times are great. There is almost every feature you need but order track, and a few credentials.
One of the weaknesses of their site, at the moment, is the lack of quick order forms and the lack of an alternative way to find your way to the thing you need to purchase it super fast. There are very little efficient internal links, so they can still improve their website a lot.
In a nutshell, MMOkings provides a professional website that still need a lot of tweaking. It is still fairly well laid out and you won't be lost.
Reliability
MMOKings has one of the most genuine and helpful customer service team we have found. This is due to its small mom-and-pop nature run by a small team working from home across the U.S. This means each customer service representative has a huge amount of responsibility and power allowing them to actually solve your problems, not just tell you that someone is looking into it or fabricate delay tactics like many other service providers.
The average live chat wait time was slightly over two minute and the customer service agents responses were quick, helpful, and in perfect English. They were completely open about their business operations, where the virtual currency came from, average delivery time, where they were based out of, etc.
Press and web release
They are also really well rated on every forums, blogs and piece of information we found across the web. 99% of the comments we found were positive. The very few that were not stated how nice and professional their customer service is. The only few issue we noticed were about delivery times not being met. Overall they got an outstanding image.

They are absolutely absent from every complaints board except a few positive posts about them. Even on complaints and rip-off boards some people are advising you some websites. For a newcomer it may be hard to distinguish fakes and real posts, but trust us on that one, we are now pretty experienced.

MMOKings uses a standard purchasing process that is extremely non-intrusive (there are very little information that are mandatory). If you are a new user you create a quick account profile, select the currency you wish to purchase, enter in your character name and telephone number and then check out via Paypal or Credit card.
They require that you have a verified PayPal address or a way to match up a telephone number with your credit card address as a fraud prevention measure.
However, if you only have a cell phone or an unlisted telephone number they are more than willing to work with you to find a safe way to verify your identity. That's one of the numerous advantages from their really efficient and friendly customer service. We found four people on different websites (reviews, blogs and boards) testifying about that.
Overall the purchasing process was quick, secure, and non-intrusive.
We tested them and I had a phone call a few minutes after the purchase. The phone call was from the same person that answered my questions on the live chat, and his English was perfect (much better than mine but he is a native!), as was his professional manner. The order status showed “Partial” a few hours later as I was finishing a few reviews for the website. I checked again after less than 8 hours and according to the site it was complete. I logged to verify and everything was okay.
Overall, I was extremely pleased of their excellent service, accurate order tracking, very good delivery time for a fairly large sum of gold.

MMOKings claims that for most games they delivery currency within 30 minutes. However, for games in high demand delivery can take between two to forty-eight hours with the majority going out in under eight hours. They don’t have the fastest delivery available, but unlike other currency companies they always deliver and are completely honest about delivery times. I would advise you to check their stock via their live chat. They are honest and you will know right away if it's suitable for you.
As long as you don’t need your gold instantly, than MMOKings is a great provider. They may not be the quickest, but they make up for it in consistency. MMOKings is highly consistent in delivering within two to forty-eight hours. They are so comfortable that they give you their home address and phone number, and support some forums like Mmowned.
Quoting their FAQ:
“Each game has it's own standard turn around depending on stock availability and market demand. Most orders are delivered within 30 minutes of approval by our sales department. Games like World of Warcraft tend to be in higher demand and the standard window for delivery is usually 2-48 hours.”
They sadly only offer a face to face delivery method.

Even if their website provides the elementary features you need to purchase currency and PL fast and safely, the website would need a little tweaking to match their really nice and fair services.

Their FAQ is quite good. They would need to improve the readability by implementing internal links or categories.
Order tracking
You have to be registered to access the order tracking section of your account. A quick link from the homepage would be sweet.
Refunds
Usually, refunds are handled within 12 hours. Sometimes though, it can take up to 24 hours for the process to complete. This is due to a combination of different systems, including your own financial institution, processing the refund request.

They offer excellent customer service that actually cares about the customer. Their entire business is based on repeat customers with a limited marketing budget with most new customers coming from word of mouth referrals. They continue to combine a mom-and-pop approach with a professional management system ensuring that you receive your virtual currency in a timely fashion.
Not the cheapest but they pay their taxes
They generally aren't the cheapest by any means, but reliability is also important and we are already providing a price searching tool. Remember that, it's just like everything in life, you get what you pay for. Of course, the management can make a real difference. But if you wanna vote with your dollars for honesty, quality and websites who actually pay their taxes, MMOkings is one of those ethical websites.
UPDATE
They have been providing a fairly good service lately and they seem to have gained traffic. Anyway, they are still a reliable website and we hope that their bizness will flourish in 2010.
